US Navy veteran gets back wallet lost 53 years ago in Antarctica

Paul Grisham, a retired US Navy meteorologist, received his wallet which was lost 53 years ago in Antarctica. The 91-year-old, now residing in California s San Diego, was left shocked on finding the wallet which he never thought to see again.
The wallet included his Navy ID card, a pocket reference card, tax withholding statement, a beer punch card and small mementos linked to his assignment in Antarctica, a local daily reported.
The 91-year-old former Navy meteorologist, who was sent to Antarctica five decades ago, says his wallet was missing for so long at the bottom of the world he forgot all about it.

âThere was a long series of people involved who tracked me down and ran me to ground, said 91-year-old Paul Grisham.
SAN DIEGO (AP) â Paul Grishamâs wallet was missing for so long at the bottom of the world he forgot all about it. Fifty-three years later, the 91-year-old San Diego man has the billfold back along with mementos of his 13-month assignment as a Navy meteorologist on Antarctica in the 1960s.
âI was just blown away,â Grisham told The San Diego Union-Tribune after the wallet was returned on Saturday. âThere was a long series of people involved who tracked me down and ran me to ground.â
The lucky discovery was made during the 2014 demolition of the scientific base on Ross Island, where Grisham had been stationed from October 1967 to Nov.
