According to Deadline, ABC is in the process of developing the series adaptation of author Stephen Mack Jones’ crime novel trilogy titled August Snow with
Key & Peele star Keegan-Michael Key attached for the titular role. The network has given the project a script commitment with
Godfather of Harlem‘s Paul Eckstein serving as the writer. Should the project score a series order, this would mark Key’s first major scripted drama series as the titular lead after being starring in a number of comedic series like

Godfather of Harlem tells a story inspired by infamous crime boss Bumpy Johnson (Whitaker), who in the early 1960s returned from eleven years in prison to find the neighborhood he once ruled in shambles. With the streets controlled by the Italian mob, Bumpy must take on the Genovese crime family to regain control. During the brutal battle, he forms an alliance with radical preacher Malcolm X (Nigel Thatch) – catching Malcolm’s political rise in the crosshairs of social upheaval and a mob war that threatens to tear the city apart.
