Burleigh, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 5, 2021 at the Kennebunk Center for Health and Rehabilitation. She was born on Feb. 19, 1932 to Andrew and Delta (Libby) Duprey in Sherman, Maine where her grandmother lived. She grew up in Sanford and attended local schools, graduating from Sanford High School class of 1950. Within weeks of graduation she eloped to South Carolina and married Earnest Burleigh. Together they had four children. She was mainly a homemaker, but was employed as a poll worker in Kennebunk which she enjoyed. In her younger years she loved to listen to her husband play in his band, “Ernie and the Country Squires”. More recently she loved reading and would read anything she could get on her Kindle.
