WORCESTER – With the city still in the teeth of the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, Worcester’s Central Catholic schools will extend its remote learning break another two weeks, according to the system’s superintendent.
St. Peter Central Catholic Elementary School and St. Paul Diocesan Jr/Sr. High School, which spent most of this school year doing in-person education unlike surrounding public schools, had already moved to fully remote learning three weeks ago.
While that earlier decision was aimed more at providing a break to staff, Worcester Catholic Schools Superintendent David Perda said, the extension of the remote period, which originally was supposed to end Monday, is due to heightened concerns by local health officials about worsening COVID-19 case rates in the city.
