An alcoholic who was arrested and PAVA sprayed spat on a policeman s arm, a court heard.
Matthew Smith was arrested for an alleged criminal damage matter on which no further action was taken.
When taken into custody he spat out, initially claiming he was clearing snot from his nose due to being sprayed.
Smith, 42, of Marling Road in St George, pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker in July 9 last year.
