Businesses flourish as Heritage Trail expands

Warmer weather beckons us to explore the great outdoors, and there’s no better place to take in the scenic views of the beautiful Hudson Valley than the Heritage Trail.
All Day Sunshine wrested the early lead from Amelias Courage A, then thwarted her late challenge to capture Thursday’s (May 6) feature at The Meadows, a $10,500 fillies and mares conditioned pace.
All Day Sunshine easily repelled the first-over bid of Dorothys Legacy, but Amelias Courage A had the entire Lightning Lane to pick her up. The four-year-old daughter of Sunshine Beach and Mustang Kensley responded to the urging of Mike Wilder and held off Amelias Courage A by a neck in 1:51.4, a tick off her lifetime mark. The game Dorothys Legacy earned show.
Paul Corey trains All Day Sunshine, who triumphed for the fifth time this year and lifted her lifetime bankroll to $189,370, for Kenneth Ashba.
Southwind Gendry solidified his spot as one of the tops in his division Saturday (May 1) at The Meadows when he blazed a Pennsylvania Sires Stake (PASS) split in 1:49.4. Literl Lad Hanover captured the other division in the $153,856 event for three-year-old pacing colts and geldings, known as the Bye Bye Byrd, giving trainer Ron Burke a stake sweep.
Purchased as a yearling for a relatively modest $30,000, Southwind Gendry exceeded expectations by winning the PASS Championship, the Matron and divisions of the Bluegrass and International Stallion stakes in progress to banking $583,069 for owners Burke Racing Stable, Phillip Collura, Knox Services and J&T Silva-Purnel & Libby.

The Burren Ecotourism Network launches ‘People of the Burren’ series

A RARE insight into the people who live and work in the Burren will be revealed in a series of 60 short films being launched by the Burren Ecotourism Network this week.
The series entitled ‘The People of the Burren’ will give potential visitors a chance to experience the diverse history, geology, archaeology, food and music of the area through the unique perspective of the people who live there.
As well as interviews with each member, the films also showcase the stunning landscapes of the Burren. Over the next few months the films will be released on a regular basis and will be available to view on the network’s social media channels and on the burren.ie website. They are part of an ongoing marketing campaign to encourage visitors to the area, once restrictions are lifted.
