Pharma Rep Admits to Money Laundering, Obstruction of Justice

Holmdel NJ man admits role in prescription drug scheme

View Comments CAMDEN - A Holmdel man has pleaded guilty to helping lead a scheme in which patients were prescribed unnecessary drugs, costing Bergen County s prescription benefits program more than $3.4 million and putting $2.2 million in his pocket, the U.S. Attorney s Office said. Paul Camarda, 39, who also admitted to conspiracy to obstruct justice and money laundering, was the second person to plead guilty in a case that, officials said, included Bergen County prison guards. He made his plea this week before U.S. District Judge Robert B. Kugler in Camden. He is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 18. Mr. Camarda was presented with an opportunity to take accountability and admit his role in this pharmaceutical scheme, and that is what he did, said Joseph Compitello, Camarda s Tinton Falls-based lawyer.
