But truly, no matter the season, there’s no wrong time for ice cream. Luckily, the Capital Region is home to dozens of stands and shops and drive-ins offering delicious frozen treats of every variety. Sure, you could pick up a cone at the Dairy Queen in the mall. However, when the weather turns warm, what we really crave is the local outdoor drive-up with the extra creamy soft-serve, or the little hole-in-the-wall with the creative flavors and colorful waffle cones. The kinds of places we drive past all winter, yearning for the arrival of spring, and with it the signs announcing the beginning of ice cream season.
