Delivery apps like Uber Eats, GrubHub and DoorDash are convenient. They’re also cost prohibitive for many local restaurants.
“I don’t use GrubHub,” said Paul Beaugard, owner of Bogie’s Hoagies. “Those services charge about 30% out of every dollar. It’s undoable.”
But now, Beaugard, who has never offered delivery, and about 20 other restaurants in the Hawthorne area are able to provide delivery through a new app created by New Jersey locals.
Husband-and-wife Dorian and Tatiana Amador are the founders of Foodie Taxi, an app-based food delivery service based in Hawthorne.
The difference between Foodie Taxi and companies like Uber Eats is that it takes 10% of every order price for operational fees, as opposed to the 25% to 30% on average larger companies take.
