Amador has represented his North Idaho district since ousting an incumbent in 2016. He currently chairs the House Ways and Means Committee and sits on the budget writing Joint Finance and Appropriations Committee.
He told the Coeur d’Alene Press he’s wanted to serve in the Senate for a while now and hopes to collaborate with a smaller group of lawmakers on legislation.
Candidates won’t officially be able to file for office until next spring.
