Entebbe- The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (Igad) has called for more involvement of women in conflict resolution negotiations to enable them get equal treatment after the conflict.
“As Igad we provide a platform during negotiations meetings for voices of women to be heard to present issues that affect women negatively in conflict setting. Through the country’s action plans we institutionalise the Security Council resolutions to protect women who are key factors in conflict resolution,” the Igad programme manager, Mr Mubarak Mabuya, told journalists at the closing of the Igad Women Peace and Security Forum (IWPSF) meeting in Entebbe, last week.

KAMPALA- The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) have arrested two children of the late Maj Mohammed Kiggundu over illegal possession of army equipment.
At the weekend, Mr Mujahid Kiggundu, a son of the deceased, told Daily Monitor that during January 14 General Election, the UPDF arrested his siblings Mr Fatu Kiggundu, a motor-cross rider, and sister Jihad Muhammad at Makindye Military barracks near Makula Foundation.
“After casting my vote at around 4pm, I went to a nearby place to wait for the vote counting. As I was seated there, I saw my two siblings standing near the polling area. In a moment, a Hilux pickup truck with government number plates carrying soldiers parked where we were seated. I saw a policeman bring my brother Fatu Kiggundu, handcuff him and bundle him onto the vehicle,” he said.

Entebbe Municipality Town Clerk Charles Magumba has revealed that the recently commissioned Kitooro Market was sealed off to safeguard equipment from thieves.
“The moment you leave such a giant structure out there in the open, people will steal things. We are doing final touches, the completion is 99.9 per cent, we are now doing security checks to cover the speakers, cameras and we have very many facilities in there which need to be sealed,” he said.

Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) has refuted claims that its human resource manager Ms Efrance Musimenta Mbagaya has been sacked.
There have been raging reports on social and online media that Ms Musimenta had been sacked after the government-owned New Vision newspaper on January 4 ran an advert of a vacant position of Director of Human Resource and Administration at UCAA.
