OXFORD The town has delayed placing a dock at the boat launch on Thompson Lake along Route 121 near the Otisfield town line due to a question of ownership and liability.
The town is attempting to confirm the ownership of the boat launch, said Recreation Director Patty Hesse.
“We can’t find proof that it is ours,” Hesse says.
The state of Maine claims it does not own the property. A nearby property owner also claims that the boat launch is not part of his property, she said.

OXFORD Selectmen agreed Thursday evening to solicit new bids for constructing a town office building, the recommendation made by an ad hoc committee.
Town Manager Adam Garland suggested that rather than stipulate design and building bids in a new request for proposals, selectmen should request proposals for design only. He said a smaller scale request for proposals would likely get more bids and create a more reasonable starting point.
