Ellwood Band Bash returns; Blackhawk s Samuel Mancini releases pop LP

R&B/pop singer Samuel Mancini made his live radio debut Thursday, performing three songs on Beaver County s WBVP/WMBA-FM (99.3). The Patterson Township native s Feed The Fire mixtape debuted Feb. 26, reaching No. 58 on the Billboard sales chart, and the Top-20 of the iTunes Pop Chart. Mancini mixes blissful melodies with a dazzling vocal range, particularly on Reckless, a song about moving on from an unfulfilling relationship.   Electropop flourishes abound on Who s Gonna Be There, which has logged 3 million Spotify streams. The Blackhawk grad, and son of Beaver County Judge Richard Mancini, told WBVP-WMBA listeners he s Influenced by early 1990s vocal acts like Boyz II Men and George Michael.

Beaver County personal care homes report COVID cases

Two more personal care homes are among the 11 long-term care facilities reporting cases of COVID-19 in Beaver County.  According to data released Tuesday from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, Cambridge Village Personal Care Home in Patterson Township and Lakeview Personal Care in South Beaver Township are among the at least six personal care or assisted living facilities to report COVID cases in residents. As of Monday, there were 1,017 resident cases and 227 staff cases of COVID-19 reported in 16 long-term care facilities in Beaver County since March. That includes 30 new resident cases and three new staff cases recorded in the previous seven days in the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System, or NEDSS, an electronic database that automatically tallies new COVID cases in long-term care facilities. Since March, 195 residents have died from the virus, including six recorded in the past week in NEDSS. 

Beaver Valley-Pittsburgh bands record a song to help save area venues

Pittsburgh concert venues like the Rex Theater, Howlers and Brillobox closed last year amid the financial hardships brought on by the pandemic. Hoping to ensure other live music sites don t go out of business, 60 local musicians rallied to record a benefit song.   “SOS 2020,” short for Save Our Stages, comes out Friday on iTunes and major streaming platforms, and includes participation from Beaver Valley musicians like Keith Nelson, former lead guitarist from platinum-selling rockers Buckcherry; David and Hermie Granati from the nationally touring Granati Brothers; Jonathan Bagamery and Michele Dunlap from alt-rockers Murder For Girls; Jason Lizzi from The Redlines, and Chip Dominick and Maleena Dominick from Chip & The Charge Ups.
