PATTERSON - Firefighters from three counties helped douse a two-alarm fire in an old Patterson farmhouse on Monday. Firefighters from Putnam, Dutchess and Fairfield counties battled the blaze on Old Road shortly before 10:30 a.m. The residents of the home were able to escape unharmed. Patterson firefighters arrived to find flames shooting through the roof of the home. Firefighters from Putnam Lake, Brewster, Lake Carmel, Pawling and New Fairfield responded. The fire heavily damaged the roof and second floor. Neighbors brought blankets out to help warm the residents of the home from the cold as they stood by outside. There are no fire hydrants in the area so firefighters had to truck water in to the scene.
