police are still searching for the motive in the latest senseless shooting to shock small town america. this time a gunman open fire at a grocery store, killing a worker and a shopper. it could have been much worse had police not acted so quickly. more now from abc s pierre thomas. reporter: police say 22-year-old shawn bair was strolling through the martin s supermarket when he suddenly pulls out a handgun and begins shooting. he allegedly kills two women. then holds the store manager at gunpoint. you can see the manager there in a praying position. you can see the shooter waving the gun around, pointing the gun at him. reporter: two patrolmen arrive within two minutes of receiving the 911 call. bair runs, police chase him through the store. an exchange of gunfire, bair is killed. the violent encounter is over in just a minute. the quick response of the elkhart city police department saved lives. no doubt about it. reporter: police now know because of incidents like columbin
