The last time the temperature was zero or above in Cedar Rapids was at midnight Thursday night. Unfortunately, it looks like it s going to be a long time before we see the mercury rise above that number again and Valentine s Day 2021 is likely to be the coldest in the history of the holiday in eastern Iowa. And, it won t be close.
The National Weather Service forecasts a low temperature of -13 in Cedar Rapids tonight and on Sunday, the temperature isn t expected to climb above zero. That has never happened on Valentine s Day, ever.

KCRG reported on their Saturday morning news that the coldest-ever Valentine s Day in Cedar Rapids history is 6 above zero. That was in 1943. Sunday s forecast is for a high of -2. Breaking a record by eight degrees? Ugh.

CHESTER, W.Va. Donna Lou Perkins, formerly of Ohio Avenue, East Liverpool, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 27, 2021 at the Orchards Stone Pear Pavilion. She was 82.
Born in East Liverpool, July 14, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Virginia Cunningham Ward. A resident of this area all her life, she was a member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1956. She worked at Riverview Greenhouse at one time and later worked in the service department at Hills Department Store. For many years she also worked as a poll worker for the Columbiana County Board of Elections.
Donna was associated with the East Liverpool City Hospital Auxiliary where she was named Volunteer of the Year. She was also active with her high school class and a member of the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association. She attended Hope Christian Fellowship and most recently she attended the Tri-State Community Church in Chester.
