I can think of only two commanders-in-chief in recent history who’ve told their enemies exactly what they were about to do: Presidents Obama and Biden.
Last week Edward Luce, US International Editor of the Financial Times, summed up the changing, global attitudes towards the fighting in Ukraine: “In April the motto (in America) was ‘Russia must lose’: now the motto is ‘$5 for a gallon of gas is too expensive’”.
I do wish they’d both stop lying. I don’t know whether you’d excuse it as propaganda or agitprop, but to me it’s simple lying and it threatens to ratchet the war in Ukraine to a newly lethal level.
