TODAY the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, announced that Teesside had been successful for a bid to bring a Freeport to the region. The bid, submitted to Government just a month ago by Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen, covers sites across the region, including Teesworks, Wilton International, Teesside International Airport, the Port of Middlesbrough, the Port of Hartlepool, Liberty Steel, LV Shipping and PD Ports. Budget brings renewable energy funding in North Lincolnshire Large investment in offshore wind The proposed Able Marine Energy Park in North Lincolnshire was given a boost by Rishi Sunak s budget announcement on Wednesday. | Photo: Able UK A £75 million funding boost from the government’s budget will target renewable energy in North Lincolnshire, starting with a deep water quay project in Killingholme. The funding from Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s budget will go towards the Able Marine Energy Park (AMEP) project, a port facility for offshore wind. AMEP represents a total £450 million investment from Able UK, a market leader in the field of renewable energy, and will cover an area of 783 acres on the Killingholme coast.
