HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (WTOC) - Hilton Head Island will have a St. Patrickâs Day parade this year, but it will be on the water.
Instead of floats driving along Pope Avenue, boats will be floating along the Broad River.
In a Facebook group created Wednesday afternoon, the Hilton Head St. Patrickâs Day Committee announced they were inviting people who owned boats and people who like to look at boats to gather at Brahms Point on March 14 and boat all the way to Shelter Cove.
Sligo has been chosen as one of a small number of destinations to collaborate with Fáilte Ireland on a new St. Patrick s Day Regional Festival Development Programme.
It puts Sligo in a key position to promote its county and tourism potential into the future and also offers an opportunity to create something special for March 17th to lift everyone s mood.
It is hoped this will keep Sligo to the forefront of people s mindx as the place to celebrate St. Patrick s Day when it is safe to travel again.
A successful collaboration between Sligo County Council, Sligo BID and Sligo St. Patrick s Day Committee has resulted in an award of €25,000 to the Council, from Fáilte Ireland, for the development of an exciting programme to take the St. Patrick s Day celebrations to a new level.

Johnson said cases, hospitalizations, new daily cases and community transmission are back to numbers seen in August. All you had to do is walk around our city these past few weekends to see why we have more cases and hospitalizations, Johnson said. I am disappointed in what I ve seen over the past few weekends.
Johnson said he consulted with local health partners and the Coastal Health District in depth before canceling this year s festivities. We wanted to wait and see how things were going to stack up and obviously our numbers are still rising, Johnson said. So one of the reasons for canceling is scientific, the other is behavior.
