Homeless man dies two weeks after downtown Portland assault July 29 2021
Portland Police Bureau detectives are now investigating the death of Patrick Pruitt as a homicide, authorities say.
The victim in a downtown Portland assault has died two weeks after he was found unconscious following a fight.
Police say Patrick Bernard Pruitt, Jr., 50, died Monday evening, July 26, inside a hospital. Pruitt was first hospitalized after police found him knocked out and suffering serious injures near Southwest Broadway and Ankeny Street around 8:11 p.m. on Thursday, July 15.
Police say his injuries were determined to be life-threatening at that time, and homicide detectives have been working the case ever since.
