SAN ANTONIO The Alamo Bowl kicks off Tuesday, with the Texas Longhorns set to face off against the Colorado Buffaloes. There will be fans in attendance this year at the Alamo Dome, but in a much smaller capacity.
Limited attendance is just one precaution being taken in order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 at the game. Others include signage, temperature checks and one-way traffic through the concourses.

The Alamodome is gearing up to host several thousand people during the Valero Alamo Bowl Tuesday night amid increasing COVID-19 cases in Bexar County.
The match-up will pit the University of Texas against the University of Colorado in the annual bowl game sponsored by San Antonio-based Valero Energy Corporation. But this year the normally 65,000 capacity Alamodome - which is owned by the city - will be reduced to a max occupancy of 11,000 attendees. The game will take place on the same day businesses in Bexar County are forced to roll back to 50% occupancy under emergency orders from Governor Greg Abbott.

SAN ANTONIO As the city of San Antonio inches closer to coronavirus numbers during the July surge, the city on Saturday hosted a boxing match at the Alamodome.
Days after the event, local leaders sent an emergency alert to people within Bexar County urging them to avoid gathering for the holidays. The conflicting moves drew the ire of KENS 5 viewers, as well as former councilman Greg Brockhouse, who lost the mayoral race in 2019 in a runoff. You can t, for instance, yesterday send out a text to the entire city saying, ‘We have over 1,7000 cases, stay home, be safe, slow the spread, while you just authorized and the mayor defended a gathering of 12,000 plus people at the Alamodome,” Brockhouse said of the Canelo Alvarez and Callum Smith boxing match.
