After 36 years working in Bulloch County elections, including the last 11-and-a-half years as the county’s first appointed election supervisor, Patricia Lanier Jones has resigned from that role, effective June 30.

Because of a COVID-19 emergency, Election Day voters from Bulloch County’s “Fair” Precinct – who normally vote in the community building at the Kiwanis Ogeechee Fairgrounds, 16942 Georgia Highway 67 – will need to go instead to Pittman Park United Methodist Church to vote Tuesday.

As the next-to-last day of in-person early voting wound down, nearly 30% of Bulloch County voters had cast ballots toward Tuesday’s runoffs.
Thursday, the final day of 2020, is also the last day for in-person early voting in Bulloch County, and the Board of Elections and Registration area in the County Annex, 113 North Main St., Statesboro, will be open for that purpose from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Almost 4,000 Bulloch County residents had cast in-person ballots as of 2 p.m. Friday during the first week of early voting for the Jan. 5, 2021 runoff.
Bulloch County Election Supervisor Patricia Lanier Jones said 3,946 total votes were cast since Monday – 3,077 at the Elections Office in the County Annex and 869 in the three days voting was available at the Honey Bowen Building.
In-person early voting for the runoff actually outpaced the first week of in-person early voting for the presidential contest by more than 1,000 votes. There were 2,923 in-person votes the week of Oct. 12-16, compared to 3,946 this week.
