5 arrested and charged following Line 3 incident Friday

Following the arrest of 12 individuals at an Enbridge Line 3 right of way site in northern Wadena County, July 19-20, a group of about 15 attendees waited outside the Wadena County Jail for the release of those arrested.
As the first of seven women released, Kristen Lynne Razowsky and Patricia Jean Weber said the charges of trespassing are inaccurate. The individuals were arrested for gross misdemeanor trespass. Six of the individuals were chained together at the right of way site, including Weber. Several of those arrested, including Honor the Earth Executive director Winona LaDuke, had their first court hearing concerning the charges Wednesday morning.

Protesters brought concerns over the water extraction occurring along the construction project at a time where the region has entered a severe drought stage and river levels have dropped to minimal flows in areas of northern Minnesota.

PARK RAPIDS, Minn. Two different incidents with protesters on the Line 3 replacement project this week resulted in a dozen arrests.
One local individual was involved in the most recent oil pipeline protest Tuesday.

The Wadena County Sheriff’s Office, along with several law enforcement partners responded to two different incidents on the Line 3 oil pipeline replacement project this week resulting in a dozen arrests.
On Monday, July 19, approximately three dozen individuals came to the Enbridge right of way located along the Shell River. Of that group, approximately 20 trespassed onto the right of way, with six of the individuals chaining themselves together in the middle of the right of way, according to a Wadena County Sheriff s Office news release.
