NEW BEDFORD A small gift of charity granted a large gift for five-year-old Jeremiahs Montalban. Montalban is in need of a new heart. Diagnosed before birth with congenital heart disease, the family knew he would need a replacement. He spent a significant amount of time in the hospital immediately after birth, according to Sandi Duxbury, vice president of marketing and enrollment for the Catholic School Alliance. In his time of need, students at All Saints Catholic School helped contribute money and sent healing words to him and his family. Students grades 5 through 8 at All Saints Catholic School united in bringing comfort and hope to Montalban. Patricia Ferreira, advisor to the All Saints Catholic School Chapter of National Junior Honor Society, gathered grades 7 and 8 together for a COVID-safe community service opportunity.
