MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A former Memphis police officer charged with kidnapping and killing a man while on duty pleaded not guilty while in court Thursday morning.
Attorney William Massey’s daughter was there to represent Patric Ferguson on behalf of the Massey firm.
Furgeson was charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, and tampering with evidence.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The mother of Robert Howard, the man who police say was kidnapped and murdered by an officer, is still trying to make sense of everything that happened.
Investigators say Martha Garth’s 30-year-old son, Howard, was kidnapped and murdered by a Memphis police officer.
Ferguson now faces several charges, including first-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping.
Garth says Howard was a loving and caring man.
Joshua Rogers allegedly helped Ferguson ‘with relocating Mr Howard’s body after he was killed,’ police said. Rogers was charged with accessory after the fact, abuse of a corpse, and fabricating and tampering with evidence.
Police said that Howard’s girlfriend contacted them on Wednesday night and said she hadn’t seen him since late Tuesday afternoon. She also said that she’d used an app to track Howard’s phone and found the device but not him. She filed a missing person’s report, and police began the search.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. â An officer with the Memphis Police Department allegedly kidnapped a man and fatally shot him while on duty.
The department said in a statement Sunday that the officer, 29-year-old Patric Ferguson, forced 30-year-old Robert Howard into the back of his squad car and drove to another location before he shot and killed the man with a personal handgun.
Howardâs girlfriend reported him missing last Wednesday evening. She said he hadnât been seen since Tuesday. The woman told police she was able to track Howardâs phone down using an app, but he was nowhere to be seen.
