Dimapur, May 12 (EMN): The Youth Red Cross unit of Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) conducted a one-day hands-on training on basic life saving skills at its conference hall on May 10. An update from the college stated that Dr. Saotakum Chang, medical officer of Longkhim CHC in Tuensang district and resource person, demonstrated various Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques, abdominal thrust to help from choking, procedures to handle accident fractures, immediate measures applied on victims of drowning and strokes. He also spoke on the do’s and don’ts of various life saving skills. Dr. Chang lauded the members of the Red Cross stating that it is a voluntary and a humanitarian service that they are giving to the society. He also reiterated that the students, as members of Red Cross, should be active in providing first aid at all times and encouraged them to participate more in trainings.
