VERO BEACH Family and friends will gather this weekend to remember the life of Hildie Tripson, a local business owner and community supporter who passed away unexpectedly on April 18 at home. She was 68.
A celebration of the life will take place Saturday, May 15 at 4 p.m. at Waldo’s Secret Garden, the family business Tripson owned and operated in Vero Beach for decades.
“Hildie was unique and authentic,” said friend Suzon Franzke. “She could well be described as ‘Mother Earth’ in her love and outreach, for family, friends, Indian River County and the State of Florida.”
Although she was born in Opalocka and graduated from Winter Park High School, Tripson moved to Vero Beach in 1970. She fell in love with the town and met and married Mark Tripson after meeting him on a blind date. The couple married at the Driftwood Inn, now the Historic Driftwood Resort, 3150 Ocean Drive, in 1974 and raised their family in Vero Beach.
