happened. it got it was dark. that was the first thing that kind of told us that something was happening. we could hear the hail hitting the building, even though we were on the first floor and it s a two-story floor. so we at that point got down on the floor. my patient and myself, took her baby, put him in our laps and we hugged and we started praying. the baby was in your patient s the baby was in your patient s lap, had just been born, and in your patient s lap, and you all hugged and braced yourselves with the baby when it hit? yep. yep. we did. baby was a little over an hour old. didn t even have a diaper on yet at that point. but mom and i held the baby and prayed. and made it through. the baby just an hour old. and you and the mother who had just given birth, holding and praying as this storm hits. yes.
what does that look like? i think one of the opportunities here is to loo look at what counts as a health care provider and go beyond doctors and say if we had a team in place, what would we spend their time on. and how do we address the factors that have a huge impact on patient s s health. right. right. a much broader conception. when the president signed the bill, he said the core principle that everybody should have some basic security when it comes to their conclude, kind of setting up a health care floor. how close are we to achieving that? for me the biggest frustration is the lack of public knowledge. a recent poll kale out saying 80% of the people most affected
that i and other republicans have supported from the beginning, and it should have been in an initial cooperative effort by republicans and democrats to actually lower the cost of health care, allow more people to be covered, and that s an important part of what we need to do in the future. but i think we actually have to repeal this entire, complicated, very expensive health care law that was put together with accounting gimmicks and budget tricks and many empty promises to make sure that we can really focus on the patient s patient-centered approach to health care, not a government-centered or insurance company-centered program. what we need is things that are actually good for patients, as well as the providers who take care of them, as well as for the taxpayers and we don t have that with this health care law. jenna: let s be more specific on that as well. if congress were to succeed in repealing the entire law, what kind of timeline do you foresee to achieving that and actually
