Eyewitnesses told the police that Nihangs, who gathered in front of the Dukh Niwaran Sahib gurdwara to oppose the Khalistan Murdabad March of the Shiv Sena, marched towards the temple, raising pro-Khalistan slogans.

Amritsar: In view of spike in COVID-19 cases, the Punjab government on Thursday announced that night curfew will be imposed in Patiala district from March 12 till further orders. The restrictions will be imposed from 11 pm to 5 am. The state government exempted essential services, government officials and medical emergency services.
Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner has directed all marriage/ banquet halls and hotels to preserve CCTV footage of events organised in their premises so that implementation of gathering restrictions, in the wake of rising coronavirus cases could be inspected by supervisors.
The night curfew is being imposed in view of the recent surge in COVID-19 cases. The restrictions will remain in effect between 11:00 pm and 5:00 am daily, till further orders
