The Court noted that a letter issued by the Centre in 2023 effectively put on hold the implementation of Rule 170, which requires licensing authorities to sign off on AYUSH ads.
The Court said that the Licensing Authority chose to act against Patanjali's misleading advertisements only after the top court passed strictures and made strong observations in that regard.
"We want to see that when you issue an advertisement, it does not mean we have to see it with a microscope," the Supreme Court had told Patanjali's counsel
