Almost from the outset, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention identified older adults as being at greatest risk for severe illness from the virus. We re just kind of holding our breaths for the vaccines to get here and get through this thing without anymore outbreaks, McDairmid said.
An outbreak, she said, is defined as one or more people testing positive. So at any given time, you probably have a staff member who has been positive within the past 10 days, she said.
River Bluff, at 4401 N. Main St., has 145 residents and 140 staff members. So far, 52 residents and 53 staff members have contracted the virus, McDairmid said while giving a COVID-19 update Tuesday to the River Bluff Advisory Board. She did not say if any or how many cases had been fatal.
