MEETING CANDID â Iris Craig, right, first vice president of the Wintersville Womanâs Club, introduced guest speaker Sherrie Dunlevy as the March meeting presenter. Janice Kiaski
WINTERSVILLE Author, speaker and Aging Awesomely coach Sherrie Dunlevy was the guest presenter for the Wintersville Woman’s Club’s first gathering in months since COVID-19 concerns shut down the normal rhythm of groups meeting routinely.
And that seemed fitting, given the Wheeling woman’s program “Designing A Life You Love” was one she developed during the pandemic and had done virtually. For the club’s March meeting, however, it was her first time to deliver the message in person.
has successful drive-through
WINTERSVILLE A drive-through collection effort initiated by the Wintersville Woman’s Club was as successful as it was appreciated.
Club President Pat Ketzell expressed gratitude for the support shown by the club membership and general public who responded to the club’s call for a variety of donations.
The collection took place during a two-hour time frame on Dec. 3 in the parking lot of St. Florian Event Center in Wintersville.
The club received 15 blankets for local dialysis patients, which Ketzell explained were intended to have been collected at the club’s November meeting, but it had been canceled.
for Dec. 19 at Beatty Park
STEUBENVILLE A holiday hike is planned for Dec. 19 beginning at 10 a.m. at Beatty Park, 711 Lincoln Ave., in Steubenville’s South End.
It will be canceled only if it’s raining, according to Flora VerStraten-Merrin of Friends of Beatty Park, who noted, “This is not a walk. It is one to four hikes.
“We will be hiking all four trails so come and hike them all or just one or two,” she noted. “The first hike (Red Trail) is up through the park and looping to the cemetery and back and includes crossing the creek (over stepping stones and wood boards). Dogs are not allowed in the cemetery so if you bring your dog, you’ll have to wait at the pavilion or near the property line of the cemetery for us to loop back. The cemetery is very serious about the ‘no dogs rule, ” VerStraten-Merrin said.
