Spectacular Christmas shows have been staples at large congregations for decades, drawing in thousands of visitors and spreading joy.
Last year, 25 thousand people attended Capital Christian Center in Sacramento to see a 45 foot-tall structure holding hundreds of choir members – dubbed the ‘Singing Christmas Tree’.
Hundreds of people are usually part of the production, including singers, actors, musicians and backstage staff.
But Christianity Today reports, this year pandemic restrictions have made the event nearly impossible to pull off.
Senior Pastor Rick Cole says, “It’s disappointing for every person on the planet right now, but it is the nature of the moment we are in.”
