Today’s national holiday celebrating Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday serves to remind us of his legacy and the foundational teachings which guided his work as an advocate for legal equality for the African-American community as well as for the underserved in society. Undergirding his work was the belief that men and women everywhere, regardless of color or creed, are equal members of society.
