Blood drive today at St. Mary Church
Appointments are being taken for a blood drive this afternoon hosted by St. Mary Catholic Church in Monroe and the American Red Cross.
The drive will run from noon to 5:30 p.m. in the school gym, 127 N. Monroe St. The sponsor code is STMARYMONROE.

The need for blood is constant and volunteer donors are needed to fulfill that need for patients in the community, organizers said.
Nationwide, someone needs a unit of blood every 2 to 3 seconds and most people will need blood in their lifetime, Red Cross officials said.
