dphillips@post-journal.com The Jamestown City Council could be implementing a new policy prohibiting drugs and alcohol in city-owned vehicles On Monday during the council work session meeting, the discussion was about updating the city vehicle policy to add language stating “any use or possesion of any form of drugs and/or alcohol in any city-owned vehicle is grounds for disciplinary action up to and including termination.” No city administrator or council member stated what caused the proposed change in the city vehicle policy. However, Brent Sheldon, Ward 1 councilman, said there was an employee complaint in 2019 that involved drugs and/or alcohol in a city vehicle.

Troy introduces downtown parking app Jan. 4 [Times Union, Albany, N.Y.] Dec. 13 TROY The city will resume charging for on-street parking downtown on Jan. 4 when it introduces its new mobile parking app. The announcement of the parking fees at the street kiosks starting up again is on the city’s website under “parking.” The parking meter collections were halted earlier this year in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Troy joins the cities of Albany and Schenectady in the Capital Region with parking apps for their downtowns. The ParkAlbany smartphone app has been in use since 2018, while Schenectady’s came online a few months ago.
