or your credit card. oh, they just want me to logon and check something. okay. you enter your username and pass ward but you re not really on your bank s site. you re on a site that looks just like it. but it s a fake. so if you get an e-mail like that. the best thing to do, and this takes a little bit of extra time, and unfortunately that s sort of the security environment we re living in. don t click on a link in your e-mail program. open up your web browser, type in city bank, bank of america, ebay, facebook, whatever it is and logon directly from that so you know you re going directly to the website. you re not going to get misdirected along the way. we talked about facebook that says check to see who s looking at your profile. that s who they used to get a lot of people. if you look at something on facebook and a lot of apps want to have permission to access your facebook profile, and you usually say yes. if something looks a little funky, that could be someone wanting to
steal pass words from virtually anyone s email account steal it these web sites boast in ads online that they can help you spy on a child or a spouse or whomever, really, for a price. the expert say these hackers are very tough to track. but there are things that you can do to avoid becoming a victim. they go by names such as your hackers, pirate hackers and slick hackers. although illegal a handful of internet services brazenly advertise for $100 fee they can obtain almost any email pass ward. one site boast a great way to catch a speeding spouse. i want you to crack my girlfriend s pass ward. kevin a former fugitive who served five years for hack something now a security consultant. he cracked the hacker system. by setting um an email account for a fictitious girlfriend. then, asking the hacking services to steal the password. the hacking services all ask for an unusual piece of information
about the victim. they always ask you like for what is their best friend s name, what is their lover s name, somebody that s important to them. the hackers then send the sun suspecting victim electronic greeting card from what appears to be a friend. by clicking on the link to seat greeting, the victim is redirected to what looks like google, aol or whatever service the victim uses for email. this site is a phony. created by the hackers. a pass ward entered here is no longer secret. so what we have here is we have the victim giving the hackers their password under the guise of deception. to prevent any suspicion, the hackers even provide the victim with the expected egreeting. a former federal prosecutor says the hackers usually go unpunished. the reason this is a low priority for law enforcement is these are very hard crimes to
