7月17日，一名网友在社交平台发布视频称，自己的父亲身患癌症，于是宴请了山西省肿瘤医院消化内镜·微创外科中心医生李治国，送了价值五千元的白酒，并筹得五千元的现金。但李治国表示不满，又向病人家属索要红包。视频显示，一名医生模样的男子在拿到患者给出的现金后称，“你这个算给得少的。”
山西省肿瘤医院7月18日发布通报称，该院在发现视频后，立即成立专项调查组开展调查，得出调查结果并作出严肃处理。山西省肿瘤医院召开党委会研究认为：李治国的行为违反了国家《医疗卫生行风建设“九不准”》，严重损害了医务人员形象和医院声誉，根据相关法律法规及医院相关规定，对李治国及相关科室、责任人进行处理。
