Central Coast advocates express their concerns of potentially housing thousands of unaccompanied migrant children at Camp Roberts, as they say it is not a place suitable for children.
Yessenia Echevarria, community organizer and founder of Paso People s Action, created a #NotCampRoberts caravan and rally on May 16 in which several community members gathered at the San Miguel Mission and drove to Camp Roberts to oppose the facility s possible use as temporary housing for unaccompanied migrant children from the U.S./Mexico border. MORE TRANSPARENCY Local activist group Paso People s Action raises awareness about the potential for unaccompanied migrant children to be temporarily housed at Camp Roberts.
Paso People's Action, a civic progressive group located in Northern San Luis Obispo County, today announced a non-violent protest at Camp Roberts on Sunday, May 16 in response to proposed actions by the US Federal Government to house between 5,000 to 20,000 separated migrant children at Camp Roberts.
–This week, Rep. Salud Carbajal (D-Santa Barbara) announced the winners of the fourth annual Congressional Women of the Year Award. The six winners of this year’s award are: Yessenia Echevarria of Paso Robles, Courtney Haile of San Luis Obispo, Sr. Theresa Harpin of San Luis Obispo, Sojourner Kincaid Rolle of Santa Barbara, Arcelia Sención of Los Olivos, and Silvia Uribe of Goleta.
