JOHOR BARU: The Johor State Department of Environment (DOE) has arrested the director and manager of a metal-plating plant in the Pasir Gudang Industrial Estate here, to assist in investigations following an incident where the water of Sungai Selangkah turned greenish recently.
Four were located in Johor, three in Selangor, and one each in Kuala Lumpur and Penang.
A total of 31 cases have been detected in the Jalan Timah Tiga cluster following screening of an individual who displayed symptoms. The cluster is linked to a factory in the Pasir Gudang Industrial Estate in Johor Baru.
Similarly, the Jalan Tanjung Empat cluster and Jalan Desa Tropika cluster – both in Johor Baru – were reported following screenings at factories, with 28 cases and ten cases reported respectively.
The Batu Empat cluster in Batu Pahat involves a factory where eight cases were reported while the Perusahaan Jalan Bukit cluster involves a factory in Kajang, Hulu Langat where 262 infections were reported.
