The pandemic’s impact is still being felt across the entertainment and events industry, but the Greek Community of Melbourne is among organisers who went for “the show must go on” option, albeit in a COVID-safe version.
Lonsdale Street Greek Music Festival is taking place this weekend 20-21 March, treating audiences to a series of performances with some of the best local Greek bands and musicians.

KRITIKO GLENDI AT DEFI 2 LIVE WITH IHO NYX
After 3 sold out shows @ Defi II, Iho Nyx are back again in 2021. Iho Nyx will be entertaining with the sounds of Crete and Greece. Tickets are available for $65 which includes a grilled menu, six piece band and an amazing sound and lighting show.

CLASS: CELEBRATING 200 YEARS – MODERN GREEK HISTORY
Greece celebrates 200 years since the struggle for independence to free her from Ottoman rule, began. The struggle for independence and democracy has been tumultuous and bloodied, and arguably at times she has enjoyed surprisingly little of either. This class will be delivered face-to-face at WEA Sydney. Enrolling students need to ensure they have read the current COVID-19 Safety Guidance that WEA Sydney has put in place before enrolling.
REBETIKA EVENING
The weather is warming up and while we can’t travel we can at least try to imagine that we’ve booked a trip to Greece this summer. Philhellene will provide the tastes of Greece and Pascal Latra, Kat Stevens and Paddy Montgomery will provide the soundtrack to a balmy night, in a tavern, sipping a tsipoura, a Kretarakimeli or a retsina, listening to Rebetika.

PASCAL LATRA QUARTET AT BAR OUSSOU
The Pascal Latra Quartet present a mixture of traditional Greek folk music and rebetika played in their unique way. The quartet includes the talents of Pascal Latra-Vocals, Guitar, Byron Triandafilides-Double Bass, Darabouka, Kat Stevens-Violin, Baglama and Paddy Montgomery-Bouzouki, Laouto.
