SIMPLY TECH: Little role for space tech in nation s security architecture

SIMPLY TECH: Little role for space tech in nation’s security architecture On By Okoh Aihe As the security challenges in the country grow more complex, usually some questions come to mind. For instance, what is the role of the National Space and Research Development Agency, NASRDA, and NIGCOMSAT in assisting and strengthening the nation’s security architecture, that is, if you permit the cliché? Why will they never help to resolve any of the plethora of kidnaps and terrorist activities in the country? People are getting exhausted under punishing surreal anomie, and with no help coming their way, it is a frightening time of holding on to straws, hoping that help would come miraculously. With hopelessness in their eyes, they are searching for answers from even the most unlikely sources, and some of the platitudes that come out, if they come at all, don’t show us as serious people.

How to prevent Nigeria s collapse

How to prevent Nigeria’s collapse On By Afe Babalola, SAN, At the current rate at which the nation is spiraling, it is hard to conclude that Nigeria will remain intact till the end of the 21st century, which is another 80 years from now. This is very optimistic. Why do I say this? I grew up during the colonial days and our teachers in Emmanuel Primary School, Ado-Ekiti, the only educational institution I ever attended, taught us about the sanctity of life. To drive their point home, they taught us such poems as “Yi ese re siapakan, ma se pa kokoroni. Kokoroti o konaanini, Olorun lo le da”; meaning: “Don’t kill that insect which only God and no man can create”. If we were forbidden from killing a mere insect then, how come then that wanton killing on the farm, on the streets, in the classrooms and in hotel rooms has become the order of the day?
