Mumbai: Over 5,000 families of 56 buildings under Mhada control are awaiting their new homes over a decade or two with redevelopment stuck after demolition of old buildings and either developers or owners turning their back never to return.
The project has been delayed for a decade now and the Bombay High Court has revoked permission issued by the Maharashtra Housing Area and Development Authority to the developer.
Parekh Constructions, Parekh Constructions LLP and Nishcon Realty have to clear out from the project site in Chira Bazar area before Independence Day, the HC directed Friday. Mhada can appoint another builder, it added.
