welcome back. we ve just received new early voting data from the nbc news data analytics lab using data provided by target smart. as of this morning, this is what we look at. more than 43 million votes have been cast nationwide in the battleground states. nearly 20 million votes cast. nationally, more women and more democratic affiliated voters have voted early. over 5.5 million florida voters have made their pick for president already. the party breakdown, roughly even. talking 40% democrat. 39% republican. with a large number, 21% marked other. msnbc s mariana atencio is in tampa right now and in a county that s almost evenly split which is incredible between democrats,
so close right now. yeah. it s florida. so it s usually a toss-up at this point and that s what we have. we ve had about 5 million votes cast already. n more than half the votes cast and i think looking at party breakdown of whose casted votes, a lot of reason for republicans to feel optimistic, but it is really tight it looks like. when you look at kind of seed-ends, early voting estimates, republicans have a lead in terms of the early vote, but it s tiny. i mean, it s small. compare it to 2008, the last one we re kind of comparing, dems up at this point by 70-plus thousand ballots in terms of early voting. so, i mean, when you look at that, should dems be nervous? you look at that, dems absolutely should be nervous but it s hard to compare 2008 to this time, 2012, to this time, because there s been a lot more early voting. so we don t know how many of
having a bad case of buyer s remorse. in other words you want to change your vote. wisconsin is would have been several states where you can change your early ballot if you think you have made a mistake. mark preston is outfront at the cnn decision desk. you heard trump. how many people out there who have already voted? i guess to give a senses of the possible scope. six days before election day but so far 24.4 million people have already cast ballots early whether by absentee or early voting. who s leading right now? well we have data on 24 states where we have a party breakdown. and we can figure that out about where that is. and if we go a little deeper into that, it shows us that democrats are doing better across those 24 states when it comes to early voting. but let s just go a a little deeper than that erin when we look at can you change your vote necessarily? these are seven states right now
way through what you think of who is winning, but we also ask what s more important, the government s ability to protect us from terrorism or your right to privacy. it looks like it s been evenly balanced, but when i pull up the party breakdown, what you see is something really fascinating. democrats siding with the government in terms of protecting us from terrorism. independents saying the right to privacy is much more important. remember to keep voting on the pulse question. you re watching the great debate right here on msnbc. the little things that you do for me [ male announcer ] the little things we do. can make a big difference. every time you use dawn, you re using a brand that supports wildlife rescue efforts. experts trust dawn. because it s tough on grease yet gentle. you by my side makes the little things so good be a part of the bigger picture. and your kindness makes the little things that you do for me go to facebook.com dawnsaveswildlife.
yeah, i mean, you can see it a couple of dufrpt way differe. i mean, when you look at the sort of traditional party breakdown, once you get right to the border, things get a little different. on the one hand, we re talking about henry cuellar as if he s a staunch republican trying to hammer on these immigrants. at the same time, he s one of the strongest opponents of extending the border wall. he says it s an old solution that can t really work and that s a traditional republican thing to be pushing for to secure the border. so, he s got this his brother s a sheriff down there along the border. he understands these issues very well. so it s and it s very complicated when you start talking to the folks down along the border, about what they think needs to work and what they think can solve the problem. i m just curious, though, he really has, it seems, gone out of his way in the last couple weeks to be going after president obama to be picking a public fight with what are th
