Auto dealers seek legislation to regulate vehicle importation

•Says Police lack database for stolen vehicles Association of Motor Dealers of Nigeria (AMDON), has urged the National Assembly to urgently pass a bill to regulate importation of cars to curtail rising incidence of stolen vehicles in the country. AMDON President, Ajibola Adedoyin, while signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Autochek, expressed displeasure that the police do not have a database of stolen vehicles. As a body, AMDON has collaborated with the Nigerian Police, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and other relevant agencies to further drive growth and structure in the automotive industry. Adedoyin said: “We have been on this issue of regulation over five to six years. We have been trying to get the National Assembly to do the needful. We believe that with pressure, the National Assembly will do the needful by regulating the importation of foreign cars.
