Residents and businesses are being asked to comment on the Strategic Regeneration Framework for Leigh town centre. The Framework is a project for the town setting out the roadmap to a new and varied offer that attracts investment, improves experience and provides opportunities for local people and businesses. The plan will bolster the projects being delivered as part of the £5m Believe in Leigh fund and will help to secure further funding for the town. The consultation will run for six weeks from Monday, February 8 to Friday, March 19. Deputy leader of the council and Leigh East ward councillor, Keith Cunliffe said: “The success of our town centres is a vital priority for both the council and residents and the COVID-19 pandemic has only emphasised this.
She was jailed A WOMAN who spat on another person while serving a suspended sentence has been given a jail term. Ashleigh Tolley, 30, of Linden Grove, Leigh, appeared in court after being arrested earlier this week. Tolley attended Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court on Tuesday, December 8 and was sentenced for an assault by beating and the commission of an offence whilst on a suspended sentence. Tolley had been given a suspended sentence in March for causing unnecessary suffering to an animal. The 30-year-old was convicted of an assault in which she spat at a woman on Parsonage Retail Park earlier this year, say police.
