Anger as families told to remove grave decorations in Minchinhampton

The family of four relatives buried in Minchinhampton said they were furious after churchwardens banned mourners from leaving personal items at their loved-ones graves. In a letter seen by the Stroud News & Journal, Holy Trinity Church instructed relatives to remove any ornaments, memorials, stones, vases, pots and children’s toys before next Saturday - March 27 - or else they will be taken away in a skip. The items have prevented contractors from safely trimming the grass and the church has received complaints about the state of the churchyard, according to the letter, which was written on behalf of Churchwardens and the Parochial Church Council.
