ANGLESEY will remain as a separate Parliamentary constituency under legislation which redraws electoral boundaries. The UK Government’s Parliamentary Constituencies Act has received Royal Assent, passing it into the statute book. The Act redraws the boundaries of the UK’s 650 constituencies so each will contain a more equal number of eligible voters and better reflect the current demographics of the country. Anglesey is the only constituency in Wales to have been given exceptional protected treatment within the new legislation. The people of Anglesey have asked for the island to be given protected status so it will stand as a constituency in its own right, despite having a slightly lower than average number of eligible voters.

The Scottish Secretary, Alister Jack, today announced the appointment of Dr Susan Walker OBE as a member of the Boundary Commission for Scotland. The appointment will commence in January 2021 for a period of four years.
Dr Walker, who has been a member of the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland since 2013, will replace Paula Sharp, who has served her maximum term.
Since 2015, Dr Walker has been a board member of Food Standards Scotland, and a member of the Water Industry Customer Forum since 2011.
Dr Walker studied Geography at the University of Durham, then a PhD in Water Resources Management at the University of Manchester.

abour already needed the biggest swing in votes since the war – bigger even than the 10 per cent swing recorded by Tony Blair in 1997 – to win a majority in the House of Commons at the next election.
