One hundred years have passed since the day Georgia lost its three-year independence and was occupied by the Bolshevik Red Army.
The Georgian national flag is flying at half-staff at government buildings around the country today in remembrance of the thousands of ordinary citizens and soldiers who died in the battle against Soviet forces in 1921.
Georgian top officials visited the cemetery of the Georgian cadets in Kojori earlier today who died in the battle against the Red Army.

Six MEPs condemn breaching of privacy and unflattering attitude towards EU Ambassador to Georgia

On Saturday, January 6, six members of the European Parliament expressed their concerns over the recent statements from Tea Tsulukiani, MP of the ruling Georgian Dream party. MEPs working on issues such as Viola von Cramon, Michael Grahler, Andrius Kubilius, Sven Mikser, Petras Austrevicius, and Marketa Gregorova sent a joint letter concerning the unethical incident at the Georgian Parliament in which Tsulukiani carelessly breached privacy by her publicly citing a phone number of the director of opposition-minded TV channel, Mtavari Arkhi during the Parliaments plenary session. EU Ambassador to Georgia, Carl Hartzell, who was present at the session, referred to the incident as unethical. In response, Tsulukiani requested a private meeting with Hartzell and later told journalists that his remark expressed his personal opinion

The ruling Georgian Dream party and opposition members have responded to the decision of the head of the opposition United National Movement Grigol Vashadze to leave the party earlier today.
Vashadze said that the presence of ‘odious figures’ in the party and attacks on the diplomatic corps and ‘other controversies’ pushed him to resign.
UNM members have assessed the resignation differently.
UNM members Roman Gotziridze and Salome Samadashvili have praised Vashadze’s chairmanship of the party, stating that he has made the party stronger in the past three years.
