Daily Times FM Qureshi reaches Tehran to discuss bilateral ties, Afghan peace

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has decided to roll over a $2 billion loan to Pakistan, the country’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan told Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in a meeting, the Foreign Office said in a statement on Tuesday.
During the meeting, Nahyan also affirmed UAE’s commitment to ‘extend every possible support to Pakistan’. Qureshi thanked Nahyan for the decision, saying it “reflected the warm and brotherly ties” between the two countries.
In a separate statement, Foreign Office spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said the UAE’s decision was “yet another manifestation of the close cooperative relations between the two countries”. “We greatly appreciate the UAE’s continued support and cooperation,” he added.
Qureshi arrives in Iran

TEHRAN: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi arrived here in Iran s capital on a three-day official visit on Tuesday at the invitation of his Iranian counterpart Dr Javad Zarif.
Director General of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Syed Rasool Moosavi, Pakistan s ambassador in Tehran, Raheem Hayat Qureshi and senior officials received him. During the visit, the foreign minister will hold delegation-level talks with Foreign Minister Zarif.
He will call on President Dr Hassan Rouhani and Speaker of the Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. He will also visit the city of Mashhad.
During the delegation-level talks, the two foreign ministers will review bilateral relations with a view to further deepening cooperation in diverse fields. The two sides will discuss regional security situation including the latest developments in the Afghan peace process and the Jammu & Kashmir dispute. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi who is on a visit to Iran will hold a meeting with President Hassan Rouhani at the Presidential Palace in Tehran today (Wednesday).
The Foreign Minister will visit the Iranian parliament where he will meet Speaker of the Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
He will also visit Pakistan s embassy and review the facilities being extended to Pakistani community.
In the evening, Foreign Minister Qureshi will hold delegation-level talks with his Iranian counterpart Javad Zarif on the entire spectrum of bilateral relations with focus on further deepening cooperation in diverse fields.
